Growing up I was fascinated with martial arts. The only problem was my parents didn't let me take any lessons. When I was 15 I went behind their backs and signed up for lessons. My parents never set foot in my dojo until the day of my Shodan (black belt) grading. Eventually college got in the way of training and I ended up spending time lifting weights at my campus gym. From there I began learning kickboxing and dabbling in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At one point I competed in amateur kickboxing.  Over the years my passion for fitness grew and I've touched everything from bodybuilding to powerlifting to weightlifting. During this time I've managed to set powerlifting records for my weight class (60kg/132lbs) under the CPF (Canadian Powerlifting Federation).
